TDIU – Veteran’s Total Disability Individual Unemployability
A vocational expert is a great asset to have when applying for TDIU.
In TDIU claims, VA physicians, through C&P examinations, apply their expert medical knowledge to define the physical and/or psychological limitations of a veteran’s service-connected disability(ies). Vocational experts, on the other hand, accept these medical findings and use their expertise of the labor market to consider the employability of a veteran and whether he or she can obtain and maintain substantially gainful work activity.
Vocational experts at VocRehab Consulting have been working with veterans and veteran law attorneys for 20 years and are well-versed in the VA language and how the mental and physical limitations resulting from veteran’s service-connected disabilities preclude performance of substantially gainful employment. The vocational expert TDIU reports are essential in helping veterans obtain the benefits they rightfully deserve.
Long-Term Disability Claims
Long-Term Disability claims are governed by ERISA. In LTD claims, vocational experts use the medical evidence from treating doctors and other medical professionals along with their expertise of the labor market to consider whether a claimant, based on his or her comprehensive vocational profile, which includes their education background, transferable skills, work history, and physical and mental limitations of his or her disability, meets the definition of the own occupation or any occupation per their insurance policy. Vocational experts at VocRehab Consulting have been working with insurance disability attorneys for many years and are well-versed in insurance policies and how to prove a claimant’s inability to perform his own occupation or any occupation. These vocational expert opinion reports are essential in helping claimants obtain the LTD benefits they rightfully deserve.
Employability Analysis/Vocational Evaluation

- How one’s disability specifically affected his/her ability to work in various ways/be considered reliable employee (i.e. excessive level of absenteeism, requires extra breaks, had to rely on assistance of coworkers to perform essential functions)
- The medical, physical, psychological, and social effects of one’s disability and the related vocational factors affecting employment
- How an individual’s disability affects his/her ability to perform Activities of Daily Living
